Strykin’ Ahead | Dave Stryker | Talks at Google

Dave Stryker is a jazz guitarist, composer and educator. He has recorded 28 CDs to date, leading his own groups, and has been featured as a sideman on lots of other recordings. He played with the likes of Jack McDuff, Stanley Turrentine, Steve Slagle and many many others. His most recent recording is titled “Strykin’ Ahead“. Dave grew up in Omaha, Nebraska and moved to New York in 1980s, first joining organist Jack McDuff and then working with saxophonist Stanley Turrentine for nearly 10 years. In addition to composing and performing, Dave has dedicated a lot of his time and energy to jazz education. He is he Adjunct Professor of Jazz guitar at Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, and at the John J. Cali School of Music at Montclair State University. He is passing along his experience by teaching privately and at The Aebersold Summer Jazz Workshop, and The Litchfield Jazz Camp.
