Whoopi Goldberg Blames ‘American Idol’ for Society’s Decline

Whoopi Goldberg, the co-host of ABC’s talk show ‘The View’, has expressed her strong opinion that ‘American Idol’, the popular reality singing competition, was responsible for sparking a hypercritical culture in which everyone is obsessed with judging one another. Goldberg made her controversial remark on Wednesday, May 26, 2,023, while discussing Netflix’s new documentary ‘You Don’t Know Me’, which explores the life and death of model and actress Anna Nicole Smith. “I think that we, as a society, love to watch stuff to judge folks,” Goldberg said. “I’ve always thought that the beginning of the downfall of society was with — what’s the name of that show? I always tell you that,” she continued, looking over to executive producer Brian Teta. #StardomSpotlight
