Battalia á 10 paints the many sides of war with vivid colors, from the swashbuckling beginning to the bitter end. Writing in 1673, Biber used bizarre harmonies and extended techniques to evoke the cacophony of soldiers’ drinking songs, the whistle and pop of cannon fire, the battle of dissenting voices, and the lament for the fallen.
