Released in early 1997, Silicone was the follow up to Mono’s debut single, Life In Mono. Both tracks came from their debut LP Formica Blues. Sampling Roy Budd’s vastly influential theme from Michael Caine’s 1971 classic Get Carter, the track combines 70s soundtrack sensibilities with 90s electronica for the perfect after-hours mix.
Formica Blues’ 25th anniversary this August is celebrated with a deluxe edition of the album featuring rare remixes from Matthew Herbert, Mr Scruff, Les Rythmes Digitales (AKA Stuart Price) and the Aloof.
