LIVE: Hamas releases first group of hostages

Thirteen hostages have been freed by Hamas and transferred to Egypt under the terms of a ceasefire agreement which took effect earlier this morning. As part of an operation dubbed “Heaven’s Door”, the IDF has prepared psychologists and mental health experts to greet those released, many of whom are children. The group has now left Gaza for Egypt and will soon be taken by Israeli forces to Hatzerim Air Base, in southern Israel.
