Patsy Cline recorded this amazingly good song, “Let the Teardrops Fall“, on February 13, 1958, at Bradley Film and Recording Studio in Nashville, Tennessee. The session was produced by Owen Bradley, and featured Cline on vocals, Floyd Cramer on piano, Bob Moore on bass, Buddy Harman on drums, Grady Martin on guitar and electric six-string bass, and, the slide guitar on “Let the Teardrops Fall“ was played by Hank Garland. Also amazing is that “Let the Teardrops Fall“ was not a commercial success when it was released in 1958! At that time, and, even today, American music was being pigeon-holed as country, pop, rockabilly, rock, jazz, or blues, and this one broke out into new ground for Patsy. This song was ridiculously criticized with inane comments, such as “Cline’s style did not fit that of rock and roll: ’It’s not bad, but rockabilly was not Cline’s forte -- she was much more at ease with ballads and midtempo numbers with a heavier pop/country f
