New York Mozambique Groove on Drums #1–4

This video demonstrates a modern version of the Mozambique rhythm, which is sometimes called New York Mozambique. This is a combination of traditional rhythm and funk elements. The Ride cymbal is played with an ostinate rhythm, which is a simplified New York version of the traditional cowbell part in the Mozambique rhythm in Clave 2-3. Variations consist mainly in the placement of beats in the Bass drum in different places of the bars. Using these variations alternately, the ability of the right foot to improvise on the basis of the ostinate parts of the remaining drums develops well. Recorded on “Free Tube Studio“ by Mikhail Nikolaev. #Drums #Mozambique #rhythm
