At least three people have died as a result of flash flooding, which occurred after heavy rain on the island of Sardinia in Italy. Three deaths are reported in the municipality of Bitti in the province of Nuoro. Flood water and mud swept the streets of the city of Beatty. Heavy rain also caused landslides in the area. Roads, bridges, houses and vehicles were damaged or destroyed. About 4,000 people have been evacuated. The Italian Civil Protection said that the increase in the reservoir level of the dam on the river Cedrino caused the evacuation of the inhabitants of the municipalities of Onifai, Galtelli and Orosei. Other evacuations were carried out in the municipalities of Oliena, Posada and Torpe. Flooding and severe weather, including strong winds, affected other parts of the island as well.
