Quite the weekend for the Workers Party in Birmingham!
The national members council of the Workers Party met this weekend in Birmingham.
The first session began on Saturday evening after the conclusion of a demonstration in support of Gaza at which the leaders of Stop the War conspired to keep our leaders off the platform, and a lacklustre attempt was made to gauge support for a new “left“ Party. Jeremy Corbyn did not respond directly to the pressure of the MC.
Our NMC discussed our Electoral challenge in 2024, the prospect of a Rochdale by-election and confirmed that the party would contest Ladywood, Hall Green and Hodge Hill constituencies in the next General Election.
On Sunday our council resolved a number of outstanding matters relating to our Manifesto - Britain Deserves Better and a new draft will be published shortly.
