This is another fan-made remix of a Gary Numan track that features as track 2 on “The Pleasure Principle“ that was released in 1979. Yet again, the original version of this song demonstrates that Gary Numan was a pioneer of synth rock and he definitely set the benchmark for the next few years. “The Pleasure Principle“ got to number 1 in the UK and remained in the album charts for 21 weeks.
I remember seeing a TV show called Synth Britannia where Andy McCluskey from OMD referred to Gary Numan as “Johnny come lately“ whilst still acknowledging Gary Numan’s contribution to the synth genre.
I think I understand what Andy McCluskey was saying in that OMD, Human League, Cabaret Voltaire, The Games etc had been playing with synths for a while and suddenly Gary Numan starts using them and he takes things to another level.
