Simferopol City - the second largest city in the Crimean Peninsula, is the capital of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. Crimea along with Sevastopol was United with Russian Federation in 2014 commencing a de facto control. Simferopol is an economic, political, transport and education hub of the peninsula. For Locals, it is administrative hub but by the international communities, it is generally ignored. The city boasts of the V.I. Vernadsky Crimean Federal University providing higher education. The city also hosts the Medical Academy named after S.I. Georgievsky, providing education to around 3000 international students mostly from the “Republic of India”. The city has a river “Salgir” passing through the major parts of the city and also has one of the biggest park in Crimea- Yuri Gagarin Park.
