WOMAN and TIME: Queen Rania of Jordan

Queen Rania of Jordan (Rania Al-Abdullah, 1970) is is the queen consort of Jordan, the wife of Abdullah II of Jordan (1962), The King of Jordan since 1999. They met in 1992 and got married half a year later, in 1993. Abdullah is the eldest son of King Hussein and his second wife Princess Muna. Abdullah was not the heir to the throne when Rania married him. The next king was to be Uncle Abdullah, the younger brother of his father. But King Hussein changed his mind and in 1999 his eldest son became king of
