Meet this “Bagration“. It is over a hundred years old and has been rusting at Cape Meganom for the last 20 years. From 1911 to 1917, the Kolomna plant built 11 diesel river motor ships. This was the first large series of passenger ships in the history of Russian shipbuilding. Among the natives of the Kolomna plant was “Prince Bagration“. It was built back in 1912 for the “Caucasus and Mercury“ shipping company. By the way, “Prince Bagration“ is the last of the surviving ships of that series. It was decided to name the motor ship in honor of Suvorov’s best student - Grand Duke Bagration. In 1913, “Bagration“ was solemnly consecrated and launched in the presence of Tsar Nicholai II himself.
