Virtual dive with basking sharks on Scotland’s west coast

This is one of eight virtual dives developed by Scottish Natural Heritage exploring Scotland’s west coast. As Scotland’s seas begin to warm after the winter, there is an explosion of microscopic life providing plentiful food for the basking shark. Each summer, high numbers of basking sharks come to Hellisay Island in the Hebrides to feed on these tiny planktonic creatures. This virtual dive provides an up close encounter with these gentle giants of the sea.
