A video of Conway’s Game of Life, emulated in Conway’s Game of Life, emulated in Conway’s Game of Life. Uploaded for the tenth anniversary of the original video: - 10 years of that video receiving comments demanding nesting a level deeper, but I felt that doing that wouldn’t achieve much the original video didn’t already do. But for the anniversary I figured I’d go big. Be aware that while the original video was 100% legitimate, in that I actually simulated that pattern in a Life simulator and turned the result into a video, the same is not true for this one. It would not be possible to run this simulation on any computer on Earth, at this level of nesting. Instead, each meta-cell in the grid has been simulated separately, and the results are stitched together using video-editing tricks.
