A severe storm and hailstorm have wreaked havoc in several provinces across Turkey, causing extensive damage to properties and vehicles. The storm, which hit the country’s western regions, brought heavy rainfall and strong winds, with some areas experiencing hailstones the size of golf balls. Torrential rains lashed several parts of Turkey, with the capital city of Istanbul the worst hit as its world-famous Grand Bazaar was filled with floodwaters. After heavy rain warnings were issued for 17 provinces, including Istanbul, the capital city received the expected rain. Istanbul, a metropolis of 14 million people, and several other Turkish provinces have been hit by a powerful storm with gusty winds , banning motorcycles and electric scooters from the roads and suspending classes in various locations due to safety concerns. While avenues and streets were flooded after a heavy downpour that started in the morning on the Anatolian side, a car got stuck while driving through an underpass. On the other hand, some businesses in the iconic Grand Bazaar and Spice Bazaar were heavily flooded.
