France: Flares burn as Yellow Vests flood Paris streets

Follow us on Telegram: Subscribe to our channel! Protesters from the Yellow Vests movement took to the streets with flares and signs on Saturday, for another round of their weekly protests. Riot police were seen accompanying the march through the centre of Paris. “Nothing makes me want to get vaccinated and especially not with an obligation, because they (the government) say that it is not compulsory but when we are deprived of being able to go out, when we are deprived of going to work, it is in fact an obligation,“ said Gaelle, one of the protesters. The protest movement, which has been taking place weekly in major French cities since 2018, with some interruptions during lockdowns, was sparked by a proposed tax on gasoline before turning into a broader movement against the ruling class and the status quo. The coronavirus pandemic, restrictions and vaccines have since become a central focus of the protests.
