Unboxing Beautiful Central American Cichlids (Vieja Synspilum!)

I bought incredible Vieja cichlids for my aquarium. These beautiful and colorful Central American cichlids will be perfect in their new home. I’ve been intrigued by Vieja Synspilum/Vieja Melanarus for a long time, and I’m excited to finally start this new chapter! - Ultimate Central American Cichlid Tank: Vieja Melanura are some of the most colorful cichlids you will find in Central and South America. These fish grow to be very large and require a tank at least 125 gallons, and they commonly have a red “chin strap“ marking. Synspilum prefer a diet high in vegetable matter but will happily accept protein in moderation. Despite their typically territorial and aggressive demeanor, some have reported instances of these fish acting as sort of referees, breaking up fights between other fish in the tank making them a possibly very good candidate for a central American cichlid community tank.
