What is kobyz? It’s a stringed instrument, popular among countries of Central Asia. I represent Kazakh version of kobyz, which is called Kyl-Kobyz. It has a body carved out of from a single piece of wood, tt has 2 strings, one to provide melody and the other resonance. The strings and a bow are made from horse hair. This all sums up to give it a unique dense sound full of overtones.
