Fan-fave “Drain Me!,” meanwhile, lets the endorphins flow a bit. Longtime Towa fans know that the guitar is her first musical ally, having been inspired by the Kinks and Jimi Hendrix as a kid. Raised in Hong Kong, Towa would cut her teeth playing street festivals and dive bars around the massive city. Eventually she started posting covers to YouTube, which extended her reach more than a bit. “Having guitar-centered music… it’s always been my focus,” she explained to us. Tyler, The Creator and Willow Smith have given Towa daps for her celebration of queer experiences and reimagination of what energetic rock music can look like in the LGBTQ space.
