It’s still Christmas and that means we have another Christmas game to archive! This will be the last Christmas video of 2023 and we will return to regular games during the final week of the year. Parasite Eve is an amazing game and in some ways an experiment by the RPG masters at Squaresoft. They were responsible for the hugely successful Final Fantasy series and with Parasite Eve they wanted to go towards the survival horror route. No doubt because of the big success of Resident Evil and you can clearly see similarities and inspirations by its gameplay and mechanics. But it also still feels very much like an RPG where you build up stats and levels and even have a mix between turn based and real time combat. The real stars in this game are its amazing atmosphere and story. The characters are all very likeable and unique (though maybe a bit cliche by today’s standard).
