This original music video was created in collaboration with Aldea - Center of Contemporary Art, Design and Technology
“We’re excited to announce our recent collaboration with Datarock, where we’ve utilized cutting-edge technology to produce a series of music videos, each distinctively crafted for four tracks from their new album.
These videos have been brought to life using state-of-the-art text-to-image diffusion models, Stable Diffusion, Control Net, and Deforum. In the world where AI meets creativity, these advanced models translate the core emotions and narratives of the music into compelling visual experiences.
Additionally, Aldea has developed the DATAGRAM NEWZ AUTOMATOR, a web-based app, to keep fans and followers connected to Datarock’s universe. This app filters online news related to Datarock and converts it into stylish Instagram-friendly text and image content that aligns with Datarock’s unique brand. This AI-powered platform, written in JavaScript using the Express framework, interweaves several APIs, including News Data, Midjourney, and GPT-4.
As part of the campaign, we have also utilized a text-to-image generator, Midjourney, coupled with the InsightFace API, to produce ad campaign images. Each image is uniquely generated, offering a blend of Datarock’s style and the power of AI image generation.
We’re thrilled about our recent collaboration with Datarock at Aldea. The project not only pushed our creative boundaries but also gave us an opportunity to combine traditional crafting methods with state-of-the-art technology.
Working with a music band is a bit different from our usual cultural projects. Still, we believe that this kind of collaboration brings new ideas and skills to our community, along with much-needed revenue that supports our creative endeavors.
AI technology played a significant role in this project, showing us how this powerful tool is changing the cultural sector. It’s essential for us to understand, use, and contribute to this technology as it develops.
This project helped us understand the tech landscape better. We learned who’s doing what in the field, how businesses are using AI, and what tools are worth our time and effort. We also saw how the open-source community is making waves in this area, driving progress with their competitive and innovative spirit.
A crucial learning point was the impact of bias in AI and its implications. We realized that these biases could influence the tools we use in unforeseen ways. This underscores why we should aim to be informed and critical users, rather than just passive participants.
One fascinating aspect of AI that we explored was how it uses existing artistic content. We realized how influential well-known artists are in training AI models and creating content. As AI advances, we need to understand how it can affect the cultural sector, including the possible replication of our artistic styles.
Our work with digital fabrication also highlighted how AI’s influence extends beyond just image production. We saw how it’s reshaping digital modeling and enhancing tools like 3D printers.
For instance, in our Metaverse project, we used AI to create a new character image every frame at 30 fps, drawing from over 1000 characters in video games, films, politics, and contemporary art. This highlighted AI’s current limitation of generating coherent data only on famous individuals and characters. The project also paid tribute to Jaron Lanier, a pioneer of virtual reality.
Looking ahead, we’re eager to bring these AI tools into our diverse range of workshops, including wood, metal, and digital fabrication. This offers us countless opportunities to stretch our creativity and make our projects more cost-effective.
We are here at Aldea to bring visions to life, regardless of whether it’s a commissioned project or a personal endeavor. We’re committed to expanding our skills and knowledge, especially in cutting-edge areas like AI, and we invite everyone interested to join us on this journey.“
