Geometric pattern created from a basic repeatable rosette and equilateral triangles.
For centuries this pattern and others based on the same rosette framework have been used to embellish various works of art, textiles, ceramics, metalwork, architectural elements, manuscripts and all types of surfaces. I learnt this from Eric Broug’s wonderful book, ’Islamic Geometric Design’ - it’s a wealth of knowledge for anyone interested in Islamic art and is something I refer to very often when working in this form.
