Something Crazy happened in the Past. We only see the Top of the Old World Building?

Cologne Cathedral, circa 1832. Muddy streets around this magnificent top portion of an Old World building. It looks like a sparsely populated city. Again, with people milling around – it’s usually well dressed people milling around. Again, muddy streets do not show that a recent mud flood has occurred here in the 1800s, but rather many years before, covering the old world buildings.
