WHAT IF ISABELA MARRIED MARIANO? In this alternate universe, Casita doesn’t lose its magic and the engagement dinner goes ahead uninterrupted. Mariano proposes to Isabela and she has no choice but to say yes. She goes through with the arranged marriage because she doesn’t want to disappoint her family and most especially her Abuela who wants her to have the perfect life she never could. Abuela sees herself and Pedro in Isabela and Mariano and this is something Isabela recognises and feels obligated to fulfil for her grandmother. Isabela has always held a lot of her true feelings in as the ‘Golden Child’ of her family, the eldest sibling and the eldest grandchild. In a family full of gifted people that support their small mountainous Colombian town, Isabela has a lot ridding on her marriage. She could give Abuela her first great-grandchild who would lead the next generation of magical gifts which protect the town and uphold the Family Madrigal name amongst Encanto’s citizens. Isabela never got to express her true feelings like she did in the movie to Mirabel. What kind of person would she become without that moment to free herself? What kind of dark state would her mind be in? After all, a person can only endure so much for the sake of their family until they reach their breaking point.
