J.S. Bach - Chaconne in D Minor BWV 1004 (Partita No. 2) | Augusta McKay Lodge, baroque violin 4K
The Bach Chaconne, performed on the baroque violin by Augusta McKay Lodge. This video won the SFCV Audience Choice Awards for best video streamed during the pandemic.
The challenge: there are few compositions that present the formal and technical difficulties of the Chaconne. The organic unity of the composition is well served by filming with a single camera--a smartphone--and a single stereo microphone. We hope you enjoy our video from the Voices of Music 2020 Summer Early Music Festival.
The sound of the Bach’s Chaconne is enhanced by the use of a baroque violin, bow, and strings, and the rhythms, bowings and articulations are in accord with historical baroque music and dance.
