The oldest house of New York City - (is older than you think)

New York City can trace back its roots to the free and liberal city of Amsterdam in the 17th century. The Wyckoff House is the only house in New York City that is from that period, when the Republic of the Netherlands ruled part of North America. The house is one of the most tangible reminders of a period of American history that has largely been forgotten. New Amsterdam (1625-1664) was a colony in which people from all over the world used trade to make something better of themselves. New Netherland Now is a project that wants to shine a light on this period of American history, which has only recently been uncovered in its true detail by historians. It shows an alternative origin story for the United States full of inspiring lessons and dire warnings. This channel has been founded by Thys Roes.
