Peg - by Steely Dan
Going back to our roots somewhat with our next feature……. Back to where it all began for Songs I Want to Play – with something that we are sure will be a popular choice for the purists! Steely Dan is a particular favourite of ours - and peg is one of the band’s most unmistakable tracks!
With its unmistakable horn intro, signature phased Rhodes and clavinet, and the insurmountable talents of Chuck Rainey, Jay Graydon, Michael McDonald and Donald Fagen himself – Peg went on to become one of the most easily recognisable tracks on Steely Dan’s Album – Aja.
Props to our Lead Guitarist Paul Thornton for taking this solo on – which was attempted by seven different session guitarists including Robben Ford and Larry Carlton – before Jay Gradon’s solo was etched in history forever.
As always, we’ve done our thing with it!
