Camping and Hiking

With the heat of the Japanese August raining down on the people of Tokyo and the coronavirus pandemic hitting new levels of scary over the Obon holiday, I decided it was better by to head for the hills than stay in the city I’d heard about this route a few years ago via a great Youtube video of friends hiking it during the winter months. What struck me was the incredible view of Mt. Fuji from forest clearings, mountain huts and peaks along this route. Like the view of Paris from the top of the Eiffel Tower, I’ve always thought it better to hike around the conical Mt. Fuji than hike on it. Why climb up to the one place in central Honshu where you can’t see Fuji in all it’s glory? Just like the view of the Eiffel Tower from the slopes of Montmartre, Nanatsuishi offers the perfect vantage point of Japan’s famous triangle. Thanks, M - Nanatsuishi Goya Mountain Hut, where I spent the night. 500yen for the night and terrific views! Music from Uppbeat (free for Creators!): https://up
