Prokofiev: Romeo & Juliet - Dance of the Knights

Throwback to the beginning of this season when The Cleveland Orchestra performed selections from Prokofiev’s music inspired by Shakespeare’s most famous love story. The Orchestra will be in Miami, Florida at the end of January performing Acts 3 and 4 of Prokofiev’s Romeo & Juliet, as well as Mahler’s Symphony No. 5 the following week. The music brings Romeo and Juliet and their conflicting families fully to life — with music that is in turn lushly romantic, playfully whimsical, deftly tuneful, poignantly heartfelt, and powerfully overwhelming.
