The Beatles - If I Fell - Rhythm and Bass Guitar Cover

Happy 80th Birthday John! In commemoration of John Lennon’s 80th birthday on October 9, 2020, here is a recreation of the rhythm and bass guitar in John’s ballad called “If I Fell”. This recreation is a result of in-depth analysis of the scene in the film, “A Hard Day’s Night“, in which the Beatles perform “If I Fell“. Notice how John uses two different variations of the A7 chord. John plays the A7 variation in which a G is played on the E string, along with baring most of the 2nd fret. But he switches to the second variation most notably in between the first and second verse. Recorded in 1964, “If I Fell” is the perfect example of less is more. Listen carefully to John and Paul’s harmonies. It’s beauty is beyond comprehension. The instrumentation is simple, yet so effective as an ensemble. This song also features masterfully pure and innocent lyrics/themes, coupled with a touch of melancholy. Yet another masterpiece among John’s catalogue. You will be missed..
