THE BEST VW KARMANN GHIA ON THE PLANET - MEXXSPEED RACING

Martin Friedschroeder of Mexxspeed Racing from Vienna in Austria, made the long trip to the UK for the Doorslammers event, to race his amazing 1967 2977cc Karmann Ghia. I spent some time with him over the 3 days to have a good look round his car, and was even lucky enough to sit in it, and start it up. After a few days getting the car running down into the 9.2’s, Martin switched on the NOS, but unfortunately the clutch said no thank you, and in the 2nd elimination run the slip was so bad, that car crossed the line in just 14 seconds, and that was the end of competition for Martin. Martin’s PB is an @ 151mph, and at the Pod he ran a best of @ 152mph. It was an absolute pleasure meeting Martin, and hopefully I will catch up with agin soon.
