They’re coming to the world of the living! #MummiesMovie is in cinemas now.
Warner Bros. Pictures’ animated adventure feature film “Mummies”, from Spanish director Juan Jesús García Galocha, features an impressive voice cast including Joe Thomas (“The Inbetweeners”, “White Gold”), Eleanor Tomlinson (“The Nevers”, “Jack the Giant Slayer”, “The Illusionist”), Santiago Winder (“The Hope Rooms”), Celia Imrie (“The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel”, “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again”), Dan Starkey (“Doctor Who”), Hugh Bonneville (“Paddington”, “Downton Abbey”, “Notting Hill”), singer, songwriter and record producer Shakka and Sean Bean (“Game of Thrones”, “The Martian”, “The Lord of the Rings”).
The film follows the fun adventures of three Egyptian mummies who live in an underground secret city, hidden in ancient Egypt. The trio includes a princess, a former charioteer, and his younger brother along with their pet baby crocodile. Through a series of unfortunate events, the mummies end up in present-day London and embark on a wacky and hilarious journey in search of an old ring belonging to the Royal Family, that was stolen by the ambitious archaeologist Lord Carnaby.
The film is directed by Juan Jesús García Galocha (“Galo”), who makes his feature film debut following his work as art director on films such as “Tad: The Lost Explorer” and “Tad, the Lost Explorer, and the Secret of King Midas”. The script was co-written by Jordi Gasull and Javier Barreira, Goya Award winners for Best Screenplay for “Tad: The Lost Explorer”. Emmy Award-winning screenwriter Ricky Roxburgh (“Tangled: The Series”) supported the English language adaptation of the script. Gasull, winner of three Goya Awards for Best Animated Film for “Tad: The Lost Explorer”, “Capture the Flag” and “Tad, the Lost Explorer, and the Secret of King Midas”, is also the film’s producer. Pedro Solis, writer/director of the Goya Award winning animated short film “Strings”, is also behind the film as head of Core Animation Studio.
The film’s music is composed by Goya Award winner Fernando Velazquez, who has frequently collaborated with acclaimed Spanish director, J.A. Bayona. The film features three original songs
including “I Am Today”, “New Song” and “Ring Song”. The latter features lyrics by writer/producer Jordi Gasull.
Warner Bros. Pictures presents a production of 4Cats Pictures SL, Anangu Grup SLU and Moomios Movie AIE, with the collaboration of Atresmedia Cine, with the participation of MOVISTAR and with the collaboration of TV3.
