‘Cope Cages’, Explosive Reactive Armor | Russia Upgrades T-72B3 Amid New Tank Stockpile In Ukraine

A video published by the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) shows a T-72B3 tank with an overhead metal screen. The metal screen, widely termed “cope cage”, come with an added layer of Kontakt-1 explosive reactive armour (ERA) bricks on top. The video comes as a separate video by the Russian MoD shows Defence Minister, Sergey Shoigu, visiting the zone of the special military operation on May 5. The purpose of Shoigu’s visit was to check the readiness and serviceability of the military equipment sent to the units of the Russian army in Ukraine. Shoigu also inspected bases for storage and repair of weapons and military equipment withdrawn from combat areas.
