Combatting Modern Slavery: tackling human trafficking and child labour in Ghana

As part of the Norad-funded Combatting Modern Slavery in Ethiopia and Ghana project, ActionAid Ghana and its partner the Ghana Agricultural Workers’ Union have been taking action to prevent and respond to forms of modern slavery in Ghana including human trafficking and child labour. Working in collaboration with the Anti-Human Trafficking Department of the Ghana Police Service and the Social Welfare Department as well as local NGO PACODEP, the team have supported the rescue, re-integration and return of survivors. This short documentary showcases some of this work, focussing on the case of 5 boys who were rescued as they were being trafficked to work on a marijuana farm in Ghana’s Oti Region.
