Making a silicone mould from some of my favourite pendants
A few videos ago I made a holographic silicone inlay, but I have never created a 3D cast of anything in silicone before. In this video I take three of my favourite pendants and make a silicone mould from them, then use it to create some new pendants. There are several things I wish I’d done differently but I know for next time! The main thing I’d change is how I used the Blu Tack. It ended up causes some weird shapes and I wish I had just left the silicone to flood a bit more of the back side and just trimmed the silicone down a bit. I chose a challenging shape to do this with, so I’m just happy I got something useable at the end (at least it will be once I’ve sanded the backs down properly!)
Materials used:
Three of my own very old pendants
A round cookie cutter
Startso one to one casting silicone
Let’s Resin chameleon powders in grape and magenta
JDiction one to one epoxy resin
Suede necklace cord
Video recorded on a Fairphone 4.
