Where do apples come from?

Which is your favourite type of apple? It might surprise you to know that your apple of choice probably was created by breeding two types of apples together. All the different types come from wild apples that were grown more than 3000 years ago in the area now known as Kazakhstan. Who knew that the fruit that keeps the doctor away had such an interesting history?
