US Spy Just Arrested Over Plans To Create A Large Armed Group In The Central African Republic.

Since 2013, the Central African Republic has been plagued with one of the most serious insecurity crisis, experienced by any African country. According to the reports, since the country gained Independence in 1960, it has been no stranger to insecurity and violence, however, the recent conflict, which brings new reports every day of atrocities committed and suffered by the masses, started in 2013 when several armed groups from the North of the country formed a coalition known as the Séléka. This group then launched a rebellion which resulted in a coup that removed the then President François Bozizé from power and the Séléka leader Michel Djotodia proclaimed himself President. Michael didn’t stay long as President, however, because other armed groups opposed the Seleka and fighting began anew and the country was divided into different factions controlled by the Seleka and those who opposed them. Now, even though somehow an election was conducted both in 2016 and 2020, which brought in the current President Faustin, Archange Touadere into power, the fighting and violence continued because the main rebel factions organized by the former President Bozize came together to form an alliance to oppose the election and the current administration.
