To celebrate our first month on YouTube, we proudly present Fear (Furcht), the first collaboration between director Robert Wiene and star Conrad Veidt, both of whom would later collaborate on the most important horror film ever made, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. Fear is our most ambitious restoration to date as it was the film which gave us the idea to start our channel. Existing online as a low resolution (480x360) file ripped from a very poor washed-out VHS tape, we did not have much to work with. Luckily for us, we were able to track down an online gallery (linked below) which details the original tints for many of the scenes. From this, we were able to restore the film as we believe it may have appeared. This public domain print was remastered using Adobe Premiere in March 2023. This restoration is by far the best and most accurate print you are going to find of this rare film. Please support our work and subscribe to the channel.
