Coast Guard Exercises. Dover, England. 1920’s? Military. British Coast Guard practice rescue exercises near Dover; England. Men come out of small building; pulling a cart loaded w/ crates. They set up a missile launcher on a tripod . Nice shot of the rocket taking off with rope hooked to it; pans w/ it as it makes an arc of smoke; & pulls the rope behind it. Two men up on a pole; rope & pulley attached to it. 1 man climbs into a ring hanging from pulley; w/ head & shoulders & arms sticking through. This contraption slides down the rope at an angle & delivers the man to the ground. One man carrying another on his back. Next; man with a lot of bricks strapped round his torso and a protective basket-like helmet ties a rope round his waist; climbs rope ladder up cliff (white cliffs of Dover). Shots of crew at the top holding ropes; looking over edge. Shots of man climbing- - he struggles at times but succeeds. CU man takes basket off his head. Apparently this is to accustom the Coast Guard men to carry someth
