Gael García Bernal on Old and the Way M. Night Shyamalan Takes Huge Risks

With M. Night Shyamalan’s fantastic new movie Old opening in theaters this weekend, I recently spoke to Gael García Bernal about the making of the film. During the interview, he talked about what people would be surprised to learn about the making of Old, the way Shyamalan takes huge risks with his filmmaking and storytelling, what it’s like working for a director that is very specific with what they are looking for, and more. If you haven’t seen the trailers, Old is about a family on a tropical holiday that discover the secluded beach where they are relaxing for a few hours is somehow causing them to age rapidly. The film was inspired by the French graphic novel Sandcastle by Pierre Oscar Levy and Frederik Peeters. Old also stars Alex Wolff, Vicky Krieps, Rufus Sewell, Thomasin McKenzie, Ken Leung, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Abbey Lee, Aaron Pierre, Embeth Davidtz, Eliza Scanlen, Emun Elliott, and Kathleen Chalfant. Check out what Gael García Bernal hhad to say in the player above. For
