Last news! A strong earthquake shakes Jamaica!

On Monday, a magnitude 5.4 earthquake struck near the capital of Jamaica. The European Mediterranean Seismological Center initially assessed the magnitude of the earthquake as 5.7. The epicenter was at a depth of 10 km, 31 km northeast of Kingston. The earthquake caused panic on the island. Strong shaking forced people to leave buildings. Food, bottles and other items fell from grocery store shelves. Some damage to buildings was also reported. There were no reports of injuries. Although small earthquakes are common in Jamaica, large ones are rare. In 1907, an earthquake struck Kingston, killing more than 1,000 people.
