The Smiths - This Charming Man (Riverside, 7 November 1983)

A mimed appearance on BBC’s Riverside that was recorded in a disused power station in London. This video also appeared on the 1984 NME ’Video Bongo’ VHS/Betamax compilation, and was used in the 1985 Spanish TV documentary ’Arsenal - Especial The Smiths’. This version is sourced from a 2008 digital TV broadcast of the 1985 Spanish documentary ’Arsenal - Especial The Smiths’. However, this version was cut up and missing some sections so these have been patched in from a VHS copy of the original BBC broadcast that was made by Soundsville. The station logo from the digital TV broadcast has been removed as well for the majority of the song. As no video is currently available of Johnny’s intro, some footage from Jean Cocteau’s 1949 film Orphée, featuring Jean Marais the cover star of the original single, has been utilised....
