The anti air missile can actually be seen for a few frames before detonating. MANPADS work by exploding very near the aircraft rather than actually making direct impact. This allows the munition to launch a blanket of shrapnel at the aircraft. The Su-25 is ruggedly built, and the cockpit is reinforced with armor.
