The car was prepared by BMW Motorsport to replace the 3.0 CSL and is equipped by a Formula 2, 4-cylinder 2-liter, turbocharged engine capable of 300 hp. The transmission is a 5-speed Getrag manual gearbox and the weight of the car is 878 Kg . At that time this BMW was driven by the trio consists of Eddie Cheever, Marc Surer and Manfred Winkelhock.
