The Vikings were one of History’s most brutal and savage people who would raid for great wealth and riches, and would murder and kill to get what they wanted. Their raids caused great shock across the world, and they gained a notorious name for their savagery especially following the Viking raid on Lindisfarne. This caused great shock when they slaughtered the monks inside of their monastery, and many believe this was the first Viking raid or attack on Britain. But this wasn’t the case! The Reeve of the area approached the Vikings believing them to be traders, however when he tried to tax them, the group of raiders slaughtered the Saxon reeve and his men on the beach.
