Harrison Ford initially pursued a career in Hollywood as a professional carpenter. He worked on various film sets, including building cabinets for George Lucas, who was impressed with Ford’s craftsmanship. Lucas eventually cast Ford in a supporting role in his film “American Graffiti“ (1973). While the role was relatively small, it marked the beginning of Ford’s collaboration with Lucas.
However, it was Ford’s portrayal of Han Solo in the original “Star Wars“ film (later retitled “Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope“) released in 1977 that truly propelled him to stardom.
