[VE Day 75] “This is Your Victory“ Prime Minister Winston Churchill 8 May 1945

On May 8, 1945, Prime Minister Winston Churchill addressed thousands from the Ministry of Health building in London, proclaiming: “This is your victory. It is the victory of the cause of freedom in every land. In all our long history we have never seen a greater day than this. Everyone, man or woman, has done their best.” In conjunction with the 75th Anniversary of Victory in Europe Day, or VE Day, a number of the Museum’s supporters and friends, from ages 10 to 80, have recorded Churchill’s “This is Your Victory” speech. We share these recordings with the realization that, during the current COVID-19 pandemic, the climate may be cause for a tempered commemoration.
