CJ series Willys Jeeps. CJ-1, CJ-2A, Cj-3A, CJ-3B, M38, CJ-5, CJ-6, CJ-8 were produced by several corporate parents, the Jeep CJ line was officially ended in 1986. More than 1.5 million CJ Jeeps were built, having continued the same basic body style for 45 years since the Jeep first appeared. Widely regarded as “America’s workhorse“, the CJs have been described as “probably the most successful utility vehicle ever made.“ In 1944, with the Allies confident the war would soon be over, the production lines of the Willys MB military jeep began to wind down. Willys-Overland began to look at the development of a Jeep vehicle for the postwar civilian market. With 4 million American farmers owning neither a pickup nor a tractor, Willys-Overland executives saw a big post-war market for a Jeep adapted for use on the farm.
