Pompey K.O’s Dawson (1955)

Nottingham, Nottinghamshire. LV. Start of boxing match between Yolande Pompey from Trinidad and American Bobby Dawson. Dawson the taller of the two, has two white rings on his socks. SV. Both boxers ducking and weaving. Both boxers throw out long lefts and Dawson follows up with another, but Pompey has no trouble in slipping it. SCU. Boxers. Pompey sways away from a ponderous right counters with a left upper cut. They tie up and for a moment Pompey isn’t sure which way he is going. LV. Pompey, a bit more aggressive but a left to his body warns him that he cannot take liberties. SCU. Pompey covering up well as Dawson tries to open him with his left. SV. Pompey throws a right hook which Dawson easily ducks. He also avoids a right hook, but is just as wide off the target with a right hook which sails over the top of the ducking Pompey.
